Live On: Transplant Awareness Campaign

As a recipient of a transplant, I wanted to create a campaign project to honor everything I have been through. One of the main reasons behind this project is my donor, Micah Pippen. Micah is the reason I am here today and have the opportunity to pursue my passion for design as a transplant survivor. As a recipient of a life-saving transplant, I wanted to create a campaign project to honor and raise awareness about the journey I've been through. One of the main reasons behind this project is to express my gratitude to my donor, Micah Pippen. Micah's selfless act is the reason I am here today, and I am incredibly grateful to be able to pursue my passion for design as a transplant survivor. This project is not just about me, but about the importance of organ donation and the impact it has on the lives of individuals like myself.

Problem and Solution:

Problem: Lack of Awareness and Understanding of Organ Transplants Among Kids and Parents

  • Many children and parents lack a clear understanding of organ transplants and the critical need for donors. This lack of knowledge contributes to misconceptions, fear, and missed discussion opportunities about donation and its life-saving impact. Additionally, limited educational materials are designed to communicate this topic in a child-friendly and relatable way.

Solution: A Creative, Kid-Friendly Transplant Awareness Campaign

  • Engaging Storytelling: Such as illustrated books and stickers to attract young ones!

  • Parental Guides: Provide easy-to-understand resources for parents, including FAQs and conversation starters about organ donation - such as pamphlets and landing page!

Logo Design:

The logo design for the transplant awareness campaign features two fishes swimming in opposite directions, symbolizing the concept of "giving and receiving" in organ donation and transplantation. It effectively communicates the message of hope, generosity, and the interconnectedness of individuals in the transplant community. Additionally, the fish are a tribute to my donor, Micah Pippen, a bass fisherman who loved going out to the lake.

Stickers:

Organ and blood donation stickers can provide valuable emotional support and encouragement to children going through or preparing for transplants. Through colorful and friendly designs, these stickers can help reduce anxiety, foster positivity, and explain complex medical concepts in a child-friendly way, empowering them with a better understanding of their treatment. Additionally, they help children feel connected to a larger community of supporters, reinforcing a sense of hope and belonging. As tangible symbols of strength and resilience, these stickers can motivate children through both the transplant process and their recovery.

Landing Page:

A landing page boosts the transplant awareness campaign by:

  • Sharing Key Info: Communicates why organ transplants are important.

  • Encouraging Action: Strong calls to action motivate people to get involved.

  • Educating: Provides FAQs and success stories.

  • Highlighting Participation: Shows events and volunteer opportunities.

  • Collecting Supporter Info: Gathers emails for updates.

  • Engaging Visuals: Uses eye-catching images to keep interest.

  • Tracking Success: Monitors visits and interactions for improvement.

In short, it’s essential for raising awareness and support!

Children’s Books on Transplants:

These children's books about transplants help young readers understand the process and importance of organ transplants in a way that is engaging, educational, and accessible. They aim to provide comfort and knowledge to children and families navigating transplant journeys.
